The data this site handles
- Browsing: you can read every page on this site without an account and without giving us any personal data. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and error diagnosis.
- Reviews: if you submit a review we store the name you enter, your review text, your rating, the provider you chose, your IP address for spam protection, and the time of submission. Reviews are read by a human before publication. Use a first name or nickname if you prefer.
- Contact form and email: if you write to us we keep your name, email address, and message so we can reply.
- Newsletter: if you subscribe we store your email address to send you price alerts and tips. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe.
No selling, no profiling
We do not sell your data. We do not build advertising profiles. When you click through to a provider, that provider's own privacy policy applies from that point on, and affiliate networks may set their own cookies on the provider's side to attribute the sale.
Cookies and local storage
Details live on our cookie policy page. In short: the site works without cookies, and we remember your cookie choice in your own browser.
Who measures visits, and only if you agree
We use two analytics tools to understand which pages people find useful and where they get stuck. Both are switched off until you press Accept on the cookie bar. If you press Decline, or simply ignore the bar, neither one is ever downloaded and neither one sees you.
- Google Analytics 4. Aggregate traffic: pages viewed, how visitors arrived, rough location by country, device type, and clicks on outbound links. We do not send it your name, email, or anything you type into a form. Data is processed under Google's terms, and our property has IP handling set by Google's own defaults. See Google's privacy policy.
- StatCounter. Visitor flow: the path taken through the site from page to page, so we can see where a journey breaks down. It runs in invisible mode, with no counter or badge displayed. See StatCounter's privacy policy.
Neither tool is used to build an advertising profile, and we do not sell what they collect. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which resets the cookie bar and stops both tools from loading again until you accept afresh.
UK GDPR rights
You can ask us what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@esimwatchdog.com and we will act on it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We keep data only as long as it serves the purpose above, then remove it.
