145 of these 355 plans were checked against the seller's own shop on 17 October 2026. The rest come from the seller's own feed or plan pages and are not yet independently checked.

The Watchdog Pick is the lowest real price per GB of the 355 plans in this view. Bulk data pools above 50 GB cannot win it, because their per GB rate only exists if you use data no traveller uses. Providers cannot pay for it. Unlimited plans show their fair use allowance instead of a per GB rate, because there is no per GB rate to compare.

Price per GB counts only data you can use inside the validity, at most 3 GB a day, so a big pool on a short validity cannot buy the top spot. Every provider's best two plans come first, then the rest. A plan marked Unverified price undercuts every other provider here by more than half and waits at the end until we have checked it on the seller's site. How we rank

Unlimited rows show the daily amount at full speed. Some rows also show the speed after that amount. A row with no speed does not mean the plan stays fast, so check the plan on the seller's site.

Short answer. The cheapest global eSIM we track right now is ASIMGO, 50 GB for 20 Days at $29.24, which is $0.58 per GB, covering 54 countries on one eSIM. Checked 17 October 2026, 06:01 GMT.

No global eSIM is actually global. Every provider advertises a round number of destinations, and every provider means something different by it. This page prices what they actually sell, shows how far apart the country lists really are, and works out the one case people get wrong in both directions: when the premium is worth paying and when it is not.

As of 17 October 2026, 06:01 GMT, the best rate on a Global plan is ASIMGO at $0.58 per GB: 50 GB for 20 Days at $29.24, across 54 countries. The median across all 355 plans is $4.50, so half of what is sold in this region costs more than that.

  • Smallest ticket price ASIMGO, Unlimited500 MB/day for 1 Day at $0.56. Useful for a short hop, rarely the best value per GB.
  • Best rate on a large plan ASIMGO, 50 GB for 20 Days at $29.24, $0.58 per GB. Buying bigger is almost always cheaper per GB than topping up twice.
  • Longest validity MobiMatter, 365 Days on one plan. Long itineraries lose money on short plans that have to be replaced.
  • Features across these plans 175 can be topped up, 260 advertise 5G, 324 allow hotspot use, and 139 are sold as unlimited.
Watchdog verdict

Which is the best eSIM for international travel?

Best depends on the trip, so here are the winners on today's numbers rather than one name. Each line is the first row of a different sort on the 355 live plans above:

  • Best value ASIMGO, 50 GB for 20 Days at $29.24: $0.58 per GB across 54 countries.
  • Widest coverage Yatelo, 190 countries on one eSIM, 20 GB for 30 Days at $54.02.
  • Best for a long trip MobiMatter, 365 Days on one plan, 40 GB at $59.99.
  • Highest daily cap on an unlimited plan ASIMGO, 9 Days at $13.37, full speed up to 3 GB a day. Set that daily cap against the fixed plans before you pay for the word unlimited.

Call it a global eSIM, an international eSIM or a world eSIM: it is the same product, one profile with a country list, and the list is what you are buying. Read it before the price.

The real question

Is a global eSIM worth it, or is one plan per country cheaper?

This is the comparison that decides the purchase, and nobody publishes it, so here it is from our own catalogue. We price both sides on the same basket: a plan of 5 to 50 GB lasting at least 15 days, which is what a real trip needs. Bulk data pools are excluded from both sides, because nobody buys 500 GB for a fortnight.

That regional figure is ASIMGO, 50 GB for 20 Days at $29.24, covering 54 countries. The country figure is the average of the cheapest comparable plan in each of the 203 countries we have prices for that global plans reach.

The regional plan wins outright here, and it is not close. It comes in around 52% under the average country's own best plan at the same size. In a region where single country data is expensive, buying the regional plan is the default choice rather than the convenience option.

The averages hide a wide spread, and the spread is where the decision actually lives. The cheapest country reached by these plans is Ukraine at $0.23 per GB on its own plan, well under the regional rate. The dearest is Belize at $7.09. If your itinerary leans towards the expensive end, the regional plan is worth more than the averages suggest. If it leans cheap, buy per country.

Coverage

How many countries does a global eSIM actually cover?

There is no standard. Across the 355 plans on this page the country lists differ enormously, and the name on the plan tells you almost nothing. These are the widest plans each provider currently sells in this region.

Read as: the smallest and largest country list each provider sells under a global plan, from the live catalogue on 17 October 2026, 06:01 GMT.

The practical rule is to ignore the word and read the number. Every row in the table at the top of this page shows how many countries that specific plan covers, which is the only figure that decides whether your trip is covered.

The premium

What a global plan costs you against a regional one

A global plan buys convenience, and convenience has a price. Measured on the same basket we use everywhere on this site, a plan of 5 to 50 GB lasting at least 15 days, here is what the best global plan costs against the best regional plan in each region.

RegionBest regional planBest global planDifference
Europe $0.35 $0.58 global costs 1.7x more
Asia $0.50 $0.58 global costs 1.2x more
Oceania $0.62 $0.58 global is cheaper
Caribbean $0.80 $0.58 global is cheaper
North America $1.00 $0.58 global is cheaper
Middle East $1.06 $0.58 global is cheaper
Africa $1.32 $0.58 global is cheaper
South America $1.56 $0.58 global is cheaper

The surprise is at the bottom of that table. A global plan is cheaper per gigabyte than the best regional plan in Oceania and Caribbean and North America and Middle East and Africa and South America. Regional data in those regions is expensive to buy wholesale, so the global providers, buying at world scale, end up undercutting the regional sellers. If your trip is in Oceania or Caribbean or North America or Middle East or Africa or South America, price the global plans here before you buy a regional one.

At the other end, a trip that stays inside Europe costs about 1.7 times more per gigabyte on a global plan than on a regional one. That is the whole case against buying global by default: for a single region trip you are paying a large premium for countries you will never enter.

Long trips

Validity, top ups and the frequent traveller case

Global plans are the only category where a year of validity is normal. 17 of the 355 plans here last 365 days, which changes what you are buying: not data for one trip, but a line that stays alive between trips and wakes up wherever you land.

175 of these plans can be topped up. That matters more on a global plan than anywhere else, because the alternative is buying a second global plan at full price. Topping up is still normally dearer per gigabyte than sizing the plan properly at the start, so the cheap route is to buy for the whole trip and treat top ups as the emergency option.

If you fly several times a year, the maths is different from a one trip buyer. A year long plan with a large allowance, bought once, usually beats four separate regional plans bought in a hurry at four airports, even at the higher per gigabyte rate. The filters at the top of this page let you set a minimum length and compare only the plans that survive a whole year.

What goes wrong

The countries global plans quietly leave out

The gaps are not random. They are the markets where wholesale roaming is expensive or politically awkward, which means they are often exactly the ones a long haul traveller needs. Russia sits on a small minority of these plans. Hong Kong and the UAE are missing from a quarter to a third of them despite being two of the busiest transit hubs on earth. Cuba is on none of them.

Vietnam is the one that catches people out. It is a mainstream destination on every itinerary through Southeast Asia, and it is absent from a third of the plans sold as global. The shares below are read from the live plan lists, so they show the real state rather than the marketing.

There is a second gap that has nothing to do with country lists. No travel eSIM works at sea or in the air. A cruise connects your phone to the ship's own maritime network and an aircraft to its satellite wifi, and both bill at rates that have nothing to do with the plan you bought. Turn data off before you sail or fly, and turn it back on when you are on land.

Unlimited

Are the unlimited Global plans really unlimited?

No, and they are not sold as a trick either. 123 of the 355 plans here are unlimited in the fair use sense: full speed up to a daily allowance, then slower until the clock resets. A further 16 plans are unlimited in a different way: one capped speed for the whole plan, shown next to the word Unlimited in the table. The published daily allowances on these plans currently run from 0.5 GB to 3 GB a day. Past the cap the speed drops, often to 1 Mbps or less, which is fine for messages and maps and painful for video.

That is why unlimited plans carry no price per GB in our table. There is no honest per gigabyte number to print, so we show the daily allowance instead and leave the value verdict blank rather than invent one. At $0.58 per GB from the cheapest fixed plan here, unlimited only pays off if you genuinely burn several gigabytes a day.

Before you buy

How to pick the right Global plan

1

Check the country list, not the plan nameOpen the plan and read which countries it covers. The table above shows the country count for every plan, and the shares further up show how often the tricky ones are actually included.

2

Compare against the single country pagesThe cheapest plan for your main stop may beat the regional plan outright. Here the regional plan is far cheaper than the average country plan, so check both before you pay.

3

Size it for the trip, not the weekLong multi country trips run 1 to 2 GB a day once maps, messaging and the occasional hotspot are counted, so a month on the road is realistically 30 to 50 GB. Buy for the trip rather than the week: topping up a global plan costs more per gigabyte than sizing it right at the start. Use the filters on this page to set a minimum size and length, then compare only what clears the bar.

4

Install before you flyScan the QR code on wifi at home. Installing needs a working connection, which is the one thing you will not have when you land.

Countries

Every destination covered by a Global plan

These 203 destinations are covered by at least one of the plans on this page. No single plan covers them all, so treat this as the list of places worth checking rather than a promise. Several of these plans also reach countries outside the region, which is worth knowing if your trip crosses into one. Each name links to its own price comparison.

Questions

Global eSIM FAQ

The questions people actually ask before buying a multi country plan

What is the cheapest global eSIM right now?

Ranked by real price per GB, the cheapest is ASIMGO at $29.24 for 50 GB over 20 Days, which works out to $0.58 per GB across 54 countries. Prices move, and the table on this page is re-ranked every time our catalogue refreshes.

How many countries does a global eSIM cover?

It varies by plan, which is the single most important thing to check. Across the 355 plans we track, the widest is Yatelo at 190 countries on one eSIM. Others cover far fewer. Always open the plan and read its country list before you pay.

Which is the best eSIM for international travel?

Best depends on the trip, so we rank rather than pick one name. On today's prices the best value is ASIMGO at $0.58 per GB, while the widest coverage is Yatelo with 190 countries on one eSIM. For heavy daily use there are 123 unlimited plans with daily fair use caps. Every pick is the first row of a sort on live prices, and no provider can pay for it.

Is a global eSIM the same as an international eSIM?

Yes. Global eSIM, international eSIM, worldwide eSIM and world eSIM are four names for one product: a single profile that works in a list of countries. The list is what you are buying, and it differs enormously between plans, so read it before the price.

Is a global eSIM cheaper than buying one eSIM per country?

On a normal trip size, which we take as 5 to 50 GB over at least 15 days, the cheapest Global regional plan works out at $0.58 per GB (ASIMGO, 50 GB for 20 Days at $29.24). The average of the cheapest single country plan at that same size, across the 203 countries we price here, is $1.21 per GB. The regional plan is the clear winner here, by a wide margin, even before you count the convenience. The countries at the cheap end of the region still undercut it, so check your main stop before you decide.

Do global eSIM plans offer unlimited data?

123 of the 355 plans here are sold as unlimited. In practice almost all of them are fair use: full speed up to a daily allowance, then slower for the rest of the day. The daily allowances on these plans currently run from 0.5 GB to 3 GB. That is why unlimited plans carry no price per GB in our table: there is no per GB rate to compare.

Is a global eSIM worth it?

On a trip crossing several regions, yes, because one install replaces buying and activating a new eSIM in every new place. On a trip inside one region it is usually poor value: the comparison on this page shows the global rate against the best regional rate in every region we track, and for most of them the regional plan is far cheaper. There are two regions where it falls the other way, which is worth checking before you assume.

How many countries does a global eSIM really cover?

Across the plans on this page, anywhere from about forty countries to about a hundred and seventy. Both extremes are sold under the same word. Ignore the headline number in the marketing and read the country count on the plan itself, which our table shows for every row.

Which countries are usually missing from global plans?

Cuba is on none of them. Russia is on a small minority. Hong Kong and the UAE are absent from a meaningful share despite being major transit hubs, and Vietnam is missing from about a third. The live coverage table on this page shows the current figures, because they change as providers sign new roaming deals.

Are global eSIM plans unlimited?

Some are sold that way, and in practice they are fair use: full speed to a daily allowance, then throttled until the next day. On a global plan that daily figure is usually smaller than on a regional one, because the provider is paying more for the roaming underneath it. Our table shows the daily allowance rather than inventing a price per GB for plans that do not have one.

Can I top up a global eSIM, or do I have to buy another?

Many of the plans here can be topped up, and it is worth checking before you buy, because the alternative is paying full price for a second global plan mid trip. Topping up still costs more per gigabyte than buying the right size at the start.

Do global eSIMs give me a phone number for calls and texts?

No. The plans we compare are data only. Keep your home SIM active alongside for SMS and one time codes, with its roaming data switched off, and make calls over WhatsApp, FaceTime or anything else that runs on data.

Is a global eSIM better than my carrier's international roaming?

Almost always on price, for data. Carrier day passes are convenient and predictable, and they can win on very short trips because they include your own number and calls. Priced per gigabyte over a real trip, a travel eSIM is normally far cheaper. The difference is that you keep your number on the carrier plan and lose it on the eSIM, which is why most people run both.

Will a global eSIM work on a plane or a cruise ship?

No. In the air and at sea your phone is on the aircraft or ship network, which no travel eSIM covers and which charges satellite rates. Switch mobile data off before you board and use it again when you are back on land.

How long can a global eSIM last?

Some run for a full year, which is unusual in travel data and is the reason frequent travellers buy global rather than regional. A yearly plan bought once can beat several regional plans bought in a hurry, even at a higher rate per gigabyte. Use the length filter on this page to see only the plans that survive a whole year.

Can I top up if I run out mid trip?

175 of the 355 plans here can be topped up, so you add data instead of buying a second eSIM. The rest need a fresh plan. Topping up is normally dearer per GB than sizing the plan correctly at the start.

How much data will I actually need?

Long multi country trips run 1 to 2 GB a day once maps, messaging and the occasional hotspot are counted, so a month on the road is realistically 30 to 50 GB. Buy for the trip rather than the week: topping up a global plan costs more per gigabyte than sizing it right at the start. Will I keep my own number and still get bank codes?

Yes, as long as you leave your home SIM active. These are data only eSIMs and your phone can run both at once. Keep the home line on for SMS and one time codes, switch its roaming data off, and use the eSIM for everything else.

Do these plans include calls or a phone number?

No. The plans we compare are data only, so there is no local number to give out. Calls work normally over WhatsApp, FaceTime or any app that runs on data. If you need a real local number, a local SIM is the right tool.

Every region we track, ranked by the cheapest real price per GB, sits on the regional and global eSIM hub. If your trip stays in one country, the country by country comparison will nearly always be cheaper.
