Daily data caps on unlimited eSIM plans

Unlimited is a label. The daily allowance is the product.

Almost every travel eSIM sold as unlimited gives you a set amount of data each day at full speed, then slows the connection until the clock resets. That daily figure is the number that decides whether the plan suits your trip, and no seller publishes it next to a rival's. So we did.

We track 105,447 live plans sold as unlimited. 70,550 of them state a daily allowance we can read, across 27 sellers and 212 countries. The rest state nothing, and they are listed further down under their own heading rather than quietly dropped.

Read the table by seller and allowance together, never by seller alone. Most sellers publish several different allowances, so there is no single figure for a brand. The 122 rows below are every combination we hold.

Daily allowance by seller

Every row is one seller at one allowance: how many live plans sell at that allowance, how many countries those plans cover, and the cheapest of them today. Sorted by seller name, then by the most generous allowance first. Prices are in US dollars and were checked on 16 October 2026, 06:08 GMT.

A one plan row is a corner case rather than a product line, and it is left in so the smallest and largest figures on this page can be found in the table that produced them. The cheapest plan column is the lowest price at that allowance anywhere in that seller's catalogue, which is usually a one day plan, so compare it against a country page before buying.

How the market clusters

Only 10 allowance values exist across every seller we track. Here is how the 70,550 capped plans spread across them, with the cheapest plan we can find at each.

The last column is our own judgement of what a day at that allowance covers on one phone, not a figure from any seller. Everything else in this table is counted from live plans.

How slow does it get after the cap?

Sellers that publish no daily figure

29 sellers we track offer plans sold as unlimited with no daily allowance in the data we hold, 34,897 plans between them. At least one of them says in writing that there is no daily limit, and most say nothing we can read. Neither is proof the plans are uncapped. Where nothing is said, the cap usually sits in the terms and not on the product page. Treat it as unknown, and read the terms before you pay.

7 sellers appear in this list and in the table above, because they state an allowance on some unlimited plans and not on others.

Is unlimited worth it at all?

Usually not. A fair use plan has no honest price per GB, so it cannot be ranked for value against a fixed plan, which is why we leave the verdict column blank on those rows rather than invent a rate. Most travellers use somewhere between 500 MB and 2 GB a day, and a fixed plan covers that for less.

Unlimited earns its price when you genuinely burn several gigabytes every day: tethering a laptop, uploading video, working from the road. Before you pay for it, multiply the daily allowance by the days of your trip and price a fixed plan of that size on the country page. Often the fixed plan wins.

Free to reuse, with credit

These figures come from live seller catalogues, timestamped at our last check. Reuse them in articles, papers or reports with a link back to this page. Figures move as catalogues update, so cite the page and the check time together, and never quote a number without it.

How we collect and check prices is set out in our methodology.
