SogdiaRoam eSIM review

3.4

The short answer. SogdiaRoam sells prepaid travel eSIM plans in 36 countries, and its cheapest rate today is $0.30 per GB. Its median rate of $1.23 per GB is about 57% below the $2.83 median across every plan we track. On price it is a reasonable default, and the country page for your destination will still show you whether someone there beats it. It also sells plans marketed as unlimited, the most generous of them allowing 5 GB a day at full speed.

Have we checked these prices?

Not yet. SogdiaRoam's prices here come from their own feed, and we have not built a checker for their shop yet, so nothing on this page has been confirmed against what a buyer actually sees. We are adding shop checks provider by provider and this page will say so when it is done.

A feed is not a shop. Feeds can list products that are not on sale, describe them differently, or carry a stale price, so a price nobody has checked again is only a number we copied.

SogdiaRoam did not pay for this review or this rating. The rating is computed from live catalogue data and cannot be bought. If you buy through a link on this page we may earn a commission, and the price you pay stays exactly the same.
About SogdiaRoam

Who is SogdiaRoam?

SogdiaRoam sells travel eSIMs for Asia, from Indochina through to the Gulf, and describes itself as having grown out of a SIM shop in Vientiane into a regional seller. The range is small and deliberate: twenty two plans, with local coverage for Laos, Thailand and Vietnam and two regional packs covering the rest of the continent.

What makes it worth a look is not breadth but the products themselves. Several plans carry a genuine local phone number rather than data alone, the Thailand unlimited plans publish no fair use ceiling of any kind, and the validity clock only starts when the eSIM first connects at the destination. Prices are quoted in dollars and matched their own checkout exactly when we tested it, coupon included.

Watchdog notice

Read this before you buy from SogdiaRoam

SogdiaRoam is a small Asia specialist that grew out of a SIM shop in Vientiane, and it behaves more honestly than most of the catalogue. It sells 22 plans, not thousands, its prices on the site match its price feed exactly, and its plans do unusual things worth knowing about: several come with a real Vietnamese or Thai phone number, and its Thailand unlimited plans are the only ones we list where neither the seller's feed nor its website states any fair use cap at all.

  • Their catalogue is deliberately narrow. Local plans exist for Laos, Thailand and Vietnam only. Everywhere else in Asia is covered by two regional packs, one spanning 15 countries and one spanning more than 30, so if your trip is a single country outside those three you are buying a regional plan rather than a local one.
  • Eight of their plans include a real local phone number, Vietnamese or Thai. Read the direction carefully, because most of them receive calls and texts but cannot make them. Only their Vietnam 11 day plan includes outgoing minutes, 40 of them. Our plan titles say which is which.
  • Their Thailand unlimited plans really do appear to be uncapped, which is rare enough that we asked. Their price feed records no data cap and no reduced speed, their product pages say only "Unlimited data", and when we put it to them directly they checked with the network behind the plans and confirmed the 8, 15 and 30 day Thailand plans run at full speed with no fair use cap and no throttle. That is the seller relaying its supplier rather than something we can measure ourselves, so treat it as a firm claim on the record rather than a tested fact, and tell us if your experience differs.
  • The validity clock starts when the eSIM first connects at your destination, not when you buy it and not when you install it. Their FAQ says so plainly, which means you can install it at home on Wi-Fi without burning a day.
  • Hotspot is unclear, and we have taken the cautious reading. Their FAQ says every plan supports tethering. The data they give partners flags it on only three of twenty two plans, with most left blank rather than marked off, which looks more like an unfilled field than a restriction. We show hotspot only where their data confirms it, so treat the rest as unconfirmed rather than forbidden.
  • They are a real business with a named company and an address, which is more than several larger sellers manage. Their About page names Internet in Laos, Co., Ltd at Ban Sisangvone Soi 10, Xaysetha, Vientiane, and they confirm that is the entity you contract with. Their Trustpilot profile lists the company as United States, which looked like a contradiction until we asked: Trustpilot did not offer Laos as a registered country when the profile was created, so the listing shows a country the form allowed rather than where the company sits.
  • Their refund promise is better than most and is stated on the product page itself: free replacement or refund within 30 days. In practice they replace a faulty eSIM first and refund to your original payment method only if a replacement cannot be made, typically in five to ten business days.
  • There is very little independent feedback. Trustpilot shows 4.1 from five reviews, with the profile claimed in July 2026. Their own product pages displayed 3.8 the day before we checked, so the number moves a lot on a base that small. Five reviews cannot tell you whether the service is reliable.
  • On price they sit just above the cheapest we track, but close on their home ground. Their best Thailand rate is 0.40 per gigabyte against 0.37 elsewhere on our tables, Vietnam 0.30 against 0.21 and Laos 0.33 against 0.25. Away from those three countries the regional packs are well beaten.

We list SogdiaRoam because its prices are real and its plans rank on the same maths as everyone else's. We publish what we could not verify so you can decide with the facts in front of you.

Technical details

How SogdiaRoam works, in detail

Activation
Buy on the website with no account needed, and the QR code is emailed within minutes. Checkout runs through Stripe.
Plan type
Mostly data only, but eight plans include a real local number on the Vietnamese +84 or Thai +66 dialling code. Most of those receive calls and texts without being able to make them; only the Vietnam 11 day plan includes outgoing minutes.
Validity clock
When the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, not at purchase and not at installation. Their FAQ states this explicitly, so installing at home on Wi-Fi costs you nothing.
Hotspot sharing
Unclear, so we publish the cautious version. Their FAQ says every plan supports tethering and personal hotspot. The data they give partners flags it on only three of twenty two plans, with most left blank rather than set to no, which reads as an unfilled field rather than a restriction. We show hotspot only where their own data confirms it.
5G access
Stated per network inside their coverage data, where partners such as Viettel are listed with 4G and 5G. We mark 5G only where that plan states it.
Top ups
Not offered. Nothing in their feed or on their pages sells a top up, so buy a plan large enough for the trip.
ID checks (KYC)
Nothing published about identity checks, and their checkout requires no account.
Apps
No app. Plans are bought on the website and installed from the emailed QR code, with a Manage my eSIM page on the site.
Payments
Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay through Stripe Checkout, priced in dollars. No account is required to buy.
Refunds
Their product pages promise a free replacement or refund within 30 days. The detail in their FAQ is that a confirmed fault is replaced free of charge first, and only if a replacement is not possible is the order refunded to the original payment method, typically within five to ten business days.
Support
A contact form and a support page on the site, plus support@sogdiaroam.com as listed on their Trustpilot profile. No phone number and no live chat is published, and no response time is promised.

PROS

  • Code ESIMWATCHDOG takes 5% off, and we watched it apply at their checkout
  • Prices on the site match their price feed exactly, plan by plan
  • Several plans include a real local phone number, which most travel eSIM sellers do not offer at all
  • The validity clock starts on first connection abroad, so you can install at home
  • A named company and a real street address, which several larger sellers do not publish
  • No account needed to buy, and no identity checks
  • Free replacement or refund promised within 30 days

CONS

  • Only twenty two plans, and local coverage for just three countries
  • Away from Laos, Thailand and Vietnam you are buying a regional pack, which is well beaten on price
  • The uncapped claim on the Thailand unlimited plans rests on the seller relaying its supplier, not on anything independently measured
  • Hotspot support is stated one way in their FAQ and another in their partner data
  • No top ups, so an underestimated plan means buying again
  • Five Trustpilot reviews is far too few to judge reliability
  • A very young brand with a tiny independent review base, so there is little history to judge them on

Check before you buy

  • Check whether the plan you want makes calls or only receives them, because most of their numbered plans are incoming only
  • The Thailand unlimited plans are stated to have no cap and no throttle, so if yours slows down that is worth reporting to them and to us
  • Buy a big enough plan, because there is no way to top up
  • Outside Laos, Thailand and Vietnam compare their regional pack against a local plan from another seller, because the regional rate is high
  • Do not assume hotspot works on every plan despite what their FAQ says, since their own plan data only confirms it on three

Questions

SogdiaRoam eSIM FAQ

What people ask before they buy a SogdiaRoam eSIM, answered from live data

Is SogdiaRoam legit?

SogdiaRoam is a real seller with 25 live plans in our catalogue covering 36 countries, and every one of those prices is checked again at each catalogue refresh. Trustpilot shows 4.1 out of 5 from 5 reviews, collected independently of us. Our own rating of 3.4 out of 5 is computed from prices and coverage and cannot be bought.

How much does a SogdiaRoam eSIM cost?

SogdiaRoam plans run from $6.90 to $47.90. Ranked by real price per GB the best rate is 38 GB for 11 Days at $9.90, which is $0.30 per GB. Across the whole catalogue the median is $1.23 per GB against a market median of $2.83, so a typical SogdiaRoam plan is cheaper than the market.

Does SogdiaRoam have a discount code?

Yes. ESIMWATCHDOG: 5% off at SogdiaRoam checkout We tested it at SogdiaRoam's own checkout before listing it, and using it never changes where SogdiaRoam ranks on this site.

Which countries does SogdiaRoam cover?

36 countries in our catalogue. The cheapest SogdiaRoam destinations by price per GB right now are Vietnam ($0.30), Laos ($0.33), Australia ($1.23). Every country in the table on this page links to its full comparison, where SogdiaRoam is ranked against every other provider we track.

Can I use a SogdiaRoam eSIM as a hotspot?

Unclear, so we publish the cautious version. Their FAQ says every plan supports tethering and personal hotspot. The data they give partners flags it on only three of twenty two plans, with most left blank rather than set to no, which reads as an unfilled field rather than a restriction. We show hotspot only where their own data confirms it.

Does SogdiaRoam sell unlimited data plans?

11 of its 25 plans are sold as unlimited. In practice they are fair use plans: full speed up to a daily allowance, then slower. That is why they carry no price per GB in our tables.

How do I install a SogdiaRoam eSIM?

Buy on the website with no account needed, and the QR code is emailed within minutes. Checkout runs through Stripe. Buy the plan online, scan the QR code on wifi before you fly, and leave the new line switched off until you land. Then turn on data roaming for the SogdiaRoam line and give it a minute to attach to a network. If the code will not install, our guide to eSIM QR code errors covers every message a phone can show.
