eSIM4Travel eSIM review

4.7

The short answer. eSIM4Travel sells prepaid travel eSIM plans in 168 countries, and its cheapest rate today is $0.58 per GB. Its median rate of $1.83 per GB is about 34% below the $2.77 median across every plan we track. On price it is a reasonable default, and the country page for your destination will still show you whether someone there beats it. It also sells plans marketed as unlimited, the most generous of them allowing 3 GB a day at full speed.

Have we checked these prices?

100% of eSIM4Travel's plans on this site were checked against eSIM4Travel's own shop on 18 October 2026, one country page at a time. We confirm the product is on sale and that the price is the one they charge, and we take their price over ours whenever the two disagree.

A feed is not a shop. Feeds can list products that are not on sale, describe them differently, or carry a stale price, so a price nobody has checked again is only a number we copied.

eSIM4Travel did not pay for this review or this rating. The rating is computed from live catalogue data and cannot be bought. If you buy through a link on this page we may earn a commission, and the price you pay stays exactly the same.
About eSIM4Travel

Who is eSIM4Travel?

eSIM4Travel is the travel data brand of FreshQ Inc, a Silicon Valley company based in Hayward, California and founded by Limin Hu and Chihyang Ho. It is not only a shop: FreshQ runs the same platform behind several other eSIM storefronts, including esim-online.com, greentravelsim.com and greenglobalsim.com, so what you are buying is a white label operator selling under its own name.

The catalogue is genuinely wide: 156 countries sold on their own, plus ten multi country bundles covering Europe, Latin America, South East Asia, Central Asia, the South Caucasus, the Middle East, Australia with New Zealand, Canada with the USA and a global 72 country pack. That works out at 160 countries and territories in total. The unusual part is how it handles countries with more than one network. Thirteen destinations are sold as two or three separate products, one per carrier group, at noticeably different prices. In the United States you can buy AT&T only at one price, AT&T with T Mobile at nearly double, and AT&T with Verizon higher again. Nobody else we track lays that choice out so plainly, and it is worth understanding before you buy the cheapest row.

Two things to know before you trust the price. Their unlimited plans are not unlimited: you get 3 GB per day at full speed and then drop to about 1 Mbps, which their own product page states and which is the single most common complaint in their reviews. And their affiliate product feed runs behind their shop. When we built this listing their feed still advertised four destinations whose pages had already closed and 45 packages at prices that had moved, some by more than 20 per cent. We do not publish from that feed. Every eSIM4Travel plan on this site is checked against their own storefront, and anything the shop will not actually sell is left out.

Technical details

How eSIM4Travel works, in detail

Activation
Install before you fly, then switch on data roaming for the eSIM line when you land. The plan must be activated within 90 days of purchase or it lapses.
Plan type
Data only, no phone number. Keep your normal SIM in place if you need your own number for calls and texts.
Validity clock
The clock starts on first connection to a supported network, not at purchase, so buying ahead of a trip costs you nothing.
Hotspot sharing
Tethering is allowed. Their terms say shared data counts the same as data used on the phone itself.
5G access
5G, 4G and LTE depending on the local partner. Each product page names the carriers it uses.
Top ups
Top ups are available, and a newly bought plan queues behind the running one and starts automatically when it expires.
ID checks (KYC)
No identity documents for data plans.
Apps
No mobile app. Everything is bought and managed on the website, and eSIMs live under My eSIM in your account. That is fine for buying at a desk and less convenient than an app if something goes wrong mid trip.
Payments
Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, UnionPay and Apple Pay. No PayPal and no crypto.
Refunds
A 30 day window from the date of purchase, which is the normal length, with one hard limit: once more than 10 per cent of the data is used the plan counts as activated and is not refundable. Expired plans and leftover data are not refundable either. Refunds have to go through the Help Center chat or email, and they expect you to work through the fault with them first.
Support
Online chat through the Help Center plus support@esim4travel.com. Responsive support is the single most repeated compliment in their reviews, which is worth something given there is no app to fall back on.
Coupons

Is there an eSIM4Travel discount code?

Not one we can vouch for right now. We only publish an eSIM4Travel promo code after testing it at eSIM4Travel's own checkout, and most codes on coupon sites are expired or never worked. If a working discount code appears it will be listed here, and it will never change where eSIM4Travel ranks in our tables.

PROS

  • Wide catalogue: 156 countries sold individually and ten multi country bundles, 160 destinations in all
  • Carrier choice made explicit: thirteen destinations sold per network so you can pay less for a single carrier or more for wider reach
  • Validity starts on first connection, so buying weeks ahead costs nothing
  • Top ups queue behind the running plan and start automatically
  • 30 day refund window, longer than several rivals
  • Tethering allowed and stated in the terms rather than left vague

CONS

  • Unlimited means 3 GB a day at full speed then roughly 1 Mbps, and reviewers say so repeatedly
  • No mobile app at all, so support is a browser and an email address
  • Refund dies once 10 per cent of the data is used, which is a low bar
  • Their affiliate feed is out of date against their own shop, so prices quoted elsewhere may be wrong
  • Must be activated within 90 days of purchase
  • Fifteen years of trading but only 193 public reviews, a thin record next to the big names
Reputation check

What real eSIM4Travel customers say

4.3 / 5 Trustpilot, 193 reviews. Collected independently of us, checked Oct 2026.

Most praised

  • Support answers quickly and walks people through setup
  • Prices that reviewers repeatedly call good value
  • Straightforward install with no identity checks

Most complained about

  • Unlimited plans throttle after 3 GB a day and buyers feel that is not clear enough
  • Speeds drop or the connection falls over in some destinations
  • No warning when a data allowance is about to run out

Check before you buy

  • Read the carrier in the product name. USA on AT&T alone is roughly half the price of USA on AT&T with Verizon, and they sit next to each other
  • Unlimited plans give 3 GB a day at full speed then slow to about 1 Mbps. Fine for maps and messages, not for video
  • Do not use more than 10 per cent of the data if you might want a refund
  • Buy within 90 days of travelling, because an unactivated plan lapses at 90 days
  • If you see an eSIM4Travel price on another comparison site, check it against their own page. Their product feed lags their shop
  • Some destinations they still advertise have closed, including New Zealand on their feed at the time of writing

Questions

eSIM4Travel eSIM FAQ

What people ask before they buy an eSIM4Travel eSIM, answered from live data

Is eSIM4Travel legit?

eSIM4Travel is a real seller with 1991 live plans in our catalogue covering 168 countries, and every one of those prices is checked again at each catalogue refresh. 100% of those plans were checked against eSIM4Travel's own shop on 18 October 2026, so the prices here are the ones a buyer sees. Trustpilot shows 4.3 out of 5 from 193 reviews, collected independently of us. Our own rating of 4.7 out of 5 is computed from prices and coverage and cannot be bought.

How much does an eSIM4Travel eSIM cost?

eSIM4Travel plans run from $0.20 to $288.25. Ranked by real price per GB the best rate is 20 GB for 30 Days at $11.65, which is $0.58 per GB. Across the whole catalogue the median is $1.83 per GB against a market median of $2.77, so a typical eSIM4Travel plan is cheaper than the market.

Does eSIM4Travel have a discount code?

Not one we can vouch for. We only publish eSIM4Travel promo codes that we have tested at its checkout, and there is no working code right now. Most codes on coupon sites are expired, so check the total on the payment page before you count on a discount.

Which countries does eSIM4Travel cover?

168 countries in our catalogue. The cheapest eSIM4Travel destinations by price per GB right now are Turkey ($0.58), Hungary ($0.61), Ireland ($0.63). Every country in the table on this page links to its full comparison, where eSIM4Travel is ranked against every other provider we track.

Can I use an eSIM4Travel eSIM as a hotspot?

Tethering is allowed. Their terms say shared data counts the same as data used on the phone itself.

Does eSIM4Travel sell unlimited data plans?

744 of its 1991 plans are sold as unlimited. In practice they are fair use plans: full speed up to a daily allowance, then slower. That is why they carry no price per GB in our tables.

How do I install an eSIM4Travel eSIM?

Install before you fly, then switch on data roaming for the eSIM line when you land. The plan must be activated within 90 days of purchase or it lapses. Buy the plan online, scan the QR code on wifi before you fly, and leave the new line switched off until you land. Then turn on data roaming for the eSIM4Travel line and give it a minute to attach to a network. If the code will not install, our guide to eSIM QR code errors covers every message a phone can show.
