Esimatic eSIM review

4.0

The short answer. Esimatic sells prepaid travel eSIM plans in 187 countries, and its cheapest rate today is $0.78 per GB. Its median rate of $3.35 per GB is about 18% above the $2.83 median across every plan we track. You are paying above the middle of the market for a typical plan here, so open the country page for your destination before you buy: it ranks every seller we track on the same maths.

Have we checked these prices?

93% of Esimatic's plans on this site were checked against Esimatic's own shop on 16 October 2026, one country page at a time. We confirm the product is on sale and that the price is the one they charge, and we take their price over ours whenever the two disagree.

A feed is not a shop. Feeds can list products that are not on sale, describe them differently, or carry a stale price, so a price nobody has checked again is only a number we copied.

Esimatic did not pay for this review or this rating. The rating is computed from live catalogue data and cannot be bought. If you buy through a link on this page we may earn a commission, and the price you pay stays exactly the same.

About Esimatic

Who is Esimatic?

Esimatic sells prepaid data plans for 200+ countries and regions through a WordPress site and its own iOS and Android apps. The terms are governed by Estonian law and describe the operator only as Esimatic Ltd running from offices within Europe; no street address appears anywhere on esimatic.com itself. A company called Esimatic Limited is listed in Hong Kong company directories, but that is a third party record, not something the site confirms.

What is verifiable is the product. Their own USA plan page states no KYC of any kind, hotspot and tethering allowed on every plan, and 5G where the local network supports it. Day plans are described honestly: 1 GB or 2 GB of full speed data every 24 hours, then a stated throttle to 1.25 Mbps or 2 Mbps rather than a vague unlimited claim. There is no true top up though, only buying the same bundle again, and refunds stop the moment the eSIM is installed.

Technical details

How Esimatic works, in detail

Activation
Buy on the site or in the app, install by QR code, then switch on data roaming when you land. Validity starts on activation.
Plan type
Data only, no phone number. VoIP works over the data connection.
Validity clock
Starts on activation, not purchase. An unactivated plan expires with no refund twelve months after purchase.
Hotspot sharing
Allowed. Their own USA plan spec table lists tethering as yes on both regular data and day plans.
5G access
5G advertised ("access premium 5G providers"), 4G/LTE elsewhere depending on the local partner.
Top ups
No true top up. Running low means buying the same bundle again from the shop, per their own help centre.
ID checks (KYC)
None. Their help centre states plainly that no KYC or eKYC is required to buy an eSIM or data bundle.
Apps
iOS 4.5 (22 ratings), Android 4.05 (about 310 ratings). Both stores show a small review base for a company claiming 75,000+ users.
Payments
Credit and debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay, processed through Stripe and PayPal. Prices in US dollars.
Refunds
A refund can be requested within 30 days of purchase, but only where activation was never possible after troubleshooting with support. Once the eSIM is installed it counts as used and nothing is refunded, including accidental purchases or an unsupported phone. Approved refunds can take up to 30 business days to appear.
Support
Email support through the contact page. No live chat or phone number is published; a help centre with articles on throttling, day plans and identity checks covers most common questions directly.

Is there an Esimatic discount code?

Not one we can vouch for right now. We only publish an Esimatic promo code after testing it at Esimatic's own checkout, and most codes on coupon sites are expired or never worked. If a working discount code appears it will be listed here, and it will never change where Esimatic ranks in our tables.

PROS

  • No identity checks of any kind to buy a data bundle
  • Day plans publish the exact throttle speed (1.25 Mbps or 2 Mbps) after the daily allowance instead of hiding it in the terms
  • Hotspot and tethering allowed on every plan type
  • Wide catalogue: 200+ countries and regions plus nine regional bundles
  • Dedicated apps on both iOS and Android for buying, installing and topping up

CONS

  • No legal entity address published on esimatic.com itself
  • No true top up: running low means buying the same bundle again rather than adding data to it
  • Small review base on both app stores and Trustpilot for a company claiming 75,000+ users
  • Refund rights end the moment the eSIM is installed, even for an accidental purchase
Reputation check

What real Esimatic customers say

4 / 5 Trustpilot, 29 reviews. Collected independently of us, checked Oct 2026.

Most praised

  • Very easy to use app that covers almost every country
  • Clear cost savings against roaming and physical SIM cards
  • Reliable connectivity across multiple countries on one eSIM

Most complained about

  • Some local networks fail to connect or run slow despite advertised coverage
  • Reviewers feel the daily throttle on unlimited plans is not made clear enough before buying
  • Early reviews describe slow support, though recent responses show more engagement

Check before you buy

  • Day Plan gives 1 GB at full speed every 24 hours then throttles to 1.25 Mbps; Day Plan+ gives 2 GB then 2 Mbps, so unlimited here means a daily allowance, not an open tap
  • An unactivated plan expires with no refund twelve months after purchase
  • Refund requests only succeed if activation genuinely failed after troubleshooting with support; change of mind is not covered
  • Billing disputes must be raised within 12 days of the invoice

Questions

Esimatic eSIM FAQ

What people ask before they buy an Esimatic eSIM, answered from live data

Is Esimatic legit?

Esimatic is a real seller with 2489 live plans in our catalogue covering 187 countries, and every one of those prices is checked again at each catalogue refresh. 93% of those plans were checked against Esimatic's own shop on 16 October 2026, so the prices here are the ones a buyer sees. Trustpilot shows 4 out of 5 from 29 reviews, collected independently of us. Our own rating of 4.0 out of 5 is computed from prices and coverage and cannot be bought.

How much does an Esimatic eSIM cost?

Esimatic plans run from $2.95 to $375.41. Ranked by real price per GB the best rate is 100 GB for 30 Days at $69.99, which is $0.78 per GB. Across the whole catalogue the median is $3.35 per GB against a market median of $2.83, so a typical Esimatic plan is dearer than the market.

Does Esimatic have a discount code?

Not one we can vouch for. We only publish Esimatic promo codes that we have tested at its checkout, and there is no working code right now. Most codes on coupon sites are expired, so check the total on the payment page before you count on a discount.

Which countries does Esimatic cover?

187 countries in our catalogue. The cheapest Esimatic destinations by price per GB right now are Australia ($0.78), New Zealand ($0.78), France ($0.83). Every country in the table on this page links to its full comparison, where Esimatic is ranked against every other provider we track.

Can I use an Esimatic eSIM as a hotspot?

Allowed. Their own USA plan spec table lists tethering as yes on both regular data and day plans.

Does Esimatic sell unlimited data plans?

1235 of its 2489 plans are sold as unlimited. In practice they are fair use plans: full speed up to a daily allowance, then slower. That is why they carry no price per GB in our tables.

How do I install an Esimatic eSIM?

Buy on the site or in the app, install by QR code, then switch on data roaming when you land. Validity starts on activation. Buy the plan online, scan the QR code on wifi before you fly, and leave the new line switched off until you land. Then turn on data roaming for the Esimatic line and give it a minute to attach to a network. If the code will not install, our guide to eSIM QR code errors covers every message a phone can show.
