Which mobile networks does Haiti have?

DataReportal counted 10.2 million active mobile connections in January 2025, equal to 86% of the population, with 93.7% of connections 3G, 4G or 5G capable. Actual internet use is much lower, at 39.3% of the population.

  • Digicel: Digicel is the dominant operator, going from zero to 1.4 million subscribers in its first year after launching in 2006, buying its main rival Comcel/Voila in 2012, and reaching about 4.7 million subscribers by June 2015.
  • Natcom: Natcom grew out of the old state carrier Teleco and is 60% owned by Vietnam's Viettel with the Haitian state holding 40%, and it was the first to run 4G LTE alongside its fiber business.

There is no MVNO market in Haiti, so travel eSIMs ride on either Digicel or Natcom.

The eSIM plans we compare on this page connect to:

Digicel 4G

Is 5G available in Haiti?

Haiti has no 5G. Both Digicel and Natcom top out at 4G, so a 4G capable phone gets you the best speeds available.

Data guide

How much data do you need in Haiti?

Light use is about 500 MB a day. That covers maps, messages, and some browsing. Normal use with photos, social apps, and short videos runs 1 to 1.5 GB a day. Streaming and hotspot use can eat 2 to 3 GB a day. Here is what each size costs in Haiti right now:

eSIM or a local SIM at the airport in Haiti?

An eSIM is ready before you land. No queue, no shop, no handing over your passport at a counter. Data for Haiti starts at $42.99 on this page, which is hard for airport kiosks to beat. A local SIM still makes sense if you need a local phone number or plan to stay for months. For a normal trip, the eSIM wins on price and effort.

Setup

Setting up your Haiti eSIM

1

Buy your planYou get a QR code by email within minutes of paying.

2

Install before you flyScan the QR code on wifi at home. Airport and hotel wifi can be weak.

3

Turn it on when you landEnable the eSIM and turn on data roaming for it, then give it a minute to find the network.

4

Check the validity clockSome plans start counting at purchase, not at first use. Check before you buy.

Local rules

Good to know before you land in Haiti

The security crisis does hit connectivity. Gangs blockaded the country's main fuel terminal for weeks in 2022, cutting the fuel that keeps infrastructure running, and unrest has repeatedly closed the main airport, so expect service disruptions during flare ups.

Do not plan on buying a SIM at Port-au-Prince airport. Toussaint Louverture International has shut repeatedly after aircraft were hit by gunfire, with a US flight ban from November 2024, a reopening in June 2025, and another full suspension of Port-au-Prince flights in November 2025, so load an eSIM before you travel.

Digicel's MonCash mobile money is used across the country and handy for top ups. Service quality shifts with the situation on the ground, so having access to both Digicel and Natcom gives you a fallback when one network struggles.

Haiti Travel eSIM FAQ

Everything you need to know about using an eSIM in Haiti

What is the cheapest eSIM for Haiti?

Right now the cheapest option ranked by price per GB is MegaEsim with 5 GB for 1 Day at $42.99. That works out to $8.60 per GB. Prices change often, so the table above always shows the current order.

Which networks will my eSIM connect to in Haiti?

The plans we compare connect to Digicel. The exact network depends on the plan you pick. Check the plan details before you buy if one network matters to you.

Do Haiti eSIMs support 5G?

The networks our plans use in Haiti currently run on 4G. That is enough for maps, messaging, video calls, and streaming in most cases.

Can I top up my Haiti eSIM if I run out?

Yes. 13 of the 13 plans here support top ups, so you can add data without buying a new eSIM. The rest need a fresh plan once the data ends.

Will I still receive bank SMS and OTP codes?

Yes, if you keep your home SIM active. Travel eSIMs are data only. Your phone can hold both at once, so leave your normal SIM on for SMS and use the eSIM for data. Turn off roaming data on the home SIM to avoid charges.

Do these eSIMs include a phone number or calls?

The plans we compare are data only, so there is no local number. Calls work fine over WhatsApp, FaceTime, or any app that uses data. If you need a real local number, a local SIM is the better tool.

How many GB do I need for a week in Haiti?

Around 3 to 5 GB covers a week of maps, messaging, and normal browsing. Heavy video or hotspot use needs 1 to 2 GB per day. Today the cheapest plan with at least 5 GB is MegaEsim at $42.99.
