Simbye eSIM review

4.9

The short answer. Simbye sells prepaid travel eSIM plans in 159 countries, and its cheapest rate today is $0.28 per GB. Its median rate of $1.69 per GB is about 40% below the $2.83 median across every plan we track. On price it is a reasonable default, and the country page for your destination will still show you whether someone there beats it. It also sells plans marketed as unlimited, the most generous of them allowing 2 GB a day at full speed.

Have we checked these prices?

Not yet. Simbye's prices here come from their own feed, and we have not built a checker for their shop yet, so nothing on this page has been confirmed against what a buyer actually sees. We are adding shop checks provider by provider and this page will say so when it is done.

A feed is not a shop. Feeds can list products that are not on sale, describe them differently, or carry a stale price, so a price nobody has checked again is only a number we copied.

Simbye did not pay for this review or this rating. The rating is computed from live catalogue data and cannot be bought. If you buy through a link on this page we may earn a commission, and the price you pay stays exactly the same.
About Simbye

Who is Simbye?

Simbye is a London registered travel eSIM seller covering around 130 countries, selling through its own web shop with no account needed to buy. Its catalogue is mostly fixed data bundles, with a smaller set of plans that add a real phone number, calls and SMS. It also sells unlimited plans, which we do not list because no fair use terms are published for them.

Watchdog notice

Read this before you buy from Simbye

Simbye is a young London company selling through an ordinary Shopify shop, which is the reason we can check it properly: there is no partner feed to disagree with the till, because the catalogue we read is the till. The prices are middling rather than sharp, the plan descriptions contradict the real prices on most of the catalogue, and the refund position is written twice in two different ways.

  • Their identity checks out. Simbye Ltd is England and Wales company number 15310933, active, incorporated in November 2023, registered for wireless telecommunications and filing accounts. The address they publish, 71-75 Shelton Street in Covent Garden, is a mass registered-agent address shared by thousands of companies, so it tells you nothing about where they sit.
  • They fixed a problem we reported. Their plan descriptions used to quote prices that disagreed with the checkout on 48 of 53 products, and in seven places the description was cheaper than the real charge. We raised it and they removed every quoted price from every description in every language within a day. We re-checked all 170 products afterwards and found none left.
  • There are two refund policies and they do not say the same thing. The refund page is an untouched shop template about returning goods "unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging", which cannot apply to an eSIM. The terms say something narrower: a refund inside 30 days if activation proved impossible after working through it with their support.
  • Their terms still carry an unfilled "Effective Date: [Date]" placeholder, which is a small thing but tells you how closely the legal pages have been read.
  • Their unlimited plans are listed here with real numbers. Their feed publishes the full speed daily allowance and the speed it drops to, almost always 2GB a day and then 1 Mbps, so our tables carry the figure rather than the word unlimited.
  • Prices are quoted in whatever currency your location resolves to, and the same plan reads $18.99 to an American, £15.00 to a British visitor and €17.95 to a German one. Our figures are the dollar ones.
  • Trustpilot sits at 4.1 from 118 reviews, and the recurring theme in both directions is the same: several people describe an eSIM that would not start, followed by support that stayed with them until it did. They reply to 87% of their negative reviews. They also solicit reviews, which lifts a score.

We list Simbye because its prices are real and its plans rank on the same maths as everyone else's. We publish what we could not verify so you can decide with the facts in front of you.

Technical details

How Simbye works, in detail

Activation
Buy on the web with no account and no app needed, and the QR code is emailed. They also publish an app, but nothing forces you into it.
Plan type
Mostly data. Nineteen of their products add a real phone number with international calls and SMS, and those are marked as such in our tables rather than mixed in with the data plans.
Validity clock
The plan runs for its stated number of days. Sizes run from 1GB for a week up to large monthly bundles, and a few countries carry a 50GB plan good for 180 days.
Hotspot sharing
Stated on their product pages as hotspot ready for a laptop or tablet.
5G access
They advertise 4G and 5G across the range but do not say which networks or which plans, so we do not mark any plan 5G on their word alone.
Top ups
Yes, through separate extension products that add days or credit to an eSIM you already hold. We do not list those as plans, because they are useless to anyone who has not already bought one.
ID checks (KYC)
Nothing published about identity checks.
Apps
There is an app for Android and iOS, but the web shop is a complete purchase path on its own.
Payments
Card at their own Shopify checkout. They price in a long list of currencies and the figure changes with your location, so check the currency selector reads what you expect before paying.
Refunds
Stated twice and inconsistently. Their refund page is a stock template about returning physical goods in their original packaging within 30 days, which cannot mean anything for an eSIM. Their terms are the ones to go by: a refund can be requested within 30 days of purchase where activation turned out to be impossible after troubleshooting with them. Read the terms, not the refund page.
Support
sales@simbye.com and a chat widget on the site, with a support team that reviewers repeatedly single out as patient. No phone number and no published response time.

PROS

  • A real UK company, checked on the register, filing accounts
  • An ordinary web checkout with no account and no app required
  • Around 130 countries, with plans up to 180 days in some of them
  • A set of plans that include a real phone number, calls and SMS, which most rivals here do not sell
  • Support is the most praised thing about them by some distance
  • A 15% code that works and is applied for you through our links

CONS

  • Prices are middling: they undercut our cheapest option in only a handful of countries
  • Refunds are governed by two documents that do not agree with each other
  • Two refund policies that say different things, one of them plainly a template about physical goods
  • Unlimited means 2GB a day at full speed and 1 Mbps after, which is a real cap rather than a true unlimited
  • No phone, no published response time and no named people behind the company
  • Incorporated in late 2023, so there is not much history to judge them on
Reputation check

What real Simbye customers say

4.1 / 5 Trustpilot, 118 reviews. Collected independently of us, checked Oct 2026.

Most praised

  • Support stays with a problem until the eSIM works
  • Installs quickly and works on arrival
  • Cheaper than rivals people had used before

Most complained about

  • Several eSIMs would not start without a support session first
  • One reviewer needed to buy a second eSIM before any worked
  • Reviews are solicited, which lifts the score

Check before you buy

  • On an unlimited plan you get 2GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps, so it is not unlimited at speed
  • Check the currency selector before paying, since the price follows your location
  • Their prices follow your location, so confirm the currency selector before paying
  • If a plan fails to start, open a support conversation quickly, because their refund route runs through having tried to fix it first
