Yesim eSIM review

4.3

The short answer. Yesim sells prepaid travel eSIM plans in 183 countries, and its cheapest rate today is $0.67 per GB. Its median rate of $2.50 per GB is about 12% below the $2.83 median across every plan we track. On price it is a reasonable default, and the country page for your destination will still show you whether someone there beats it.

Have we checked these prices?

97% of Yesim's plans on this site were checked against Yesim's own shop on 16 October 2026, one country page at a time. We confirm the product is on sale and that the price is the one they charge, and we take their price over ours whenever the two disagree.

A feed is not a shop. Feeds can list products that are not on sale, describe them differently, or carry a stale price, so a price nobody has checked again is only a number we copied.

Yesim did not pay for this review or this rating. The rating is computed from live catalogue data and cannot be bought. If you buy through a link on this page we may earn a commission, and the price you pay stays exactly the same.
About Yesim

Who is Yesim?

Yesim is a Swiss registered travel eSIM seller, Genesis Group AG of Baar, trading since 2019 with offices it says are in Switzerland, the UAE and Europe. It sells fixed and unlimited plans for about 180 countries, regional bundles, two global bundles and a pay as you go balance through its website and its iOS and Android app, with a free VPN and virtual phone numbers on the side.

Watchdog notice

Read this before you buy from Yesim

Yesim is one of the older names in travel eSIM and its company details check out, but its unlimited plans hide a daily allowance it never states, its refund rules are tighter than the 30 day headline, and its own ratings claims run ahead of the app stores. None of this means the eSIMs do not work.

  • Unlimited plans carry a fair use policy with no figure. Every plan page says data speed may be limited in accordance with the network operator's fair usage policy, and the FAQ says after reaching a certain amount of provided data some speed reduction might be applied. No allowance is published anywhere we found, and a July 2026 Trustpilot review describes the connection becoming unusable after the cap.
  • The refund window is 30 days but only for a plan that was never installed, connected or used; installing the profile counts as activation. A technical fault must be reported within 1 hour of it happening or the refund claim is out of time.
  • The homepage says 4.7 from 60K+ ratings and the About page says 30,000+ reviews. Google Play shows 4.5 from 26.3K reviews, the App Store 4.6 from 2,200 ratings and Trustpilot 4.3 from 2,943 reviews, so the figures do not add up to 60,000 anywhere we can check.
  • Balance top up is marked Not available on every plan we checked, yet the site advertises top ups and the homepage says unused balance can be kept for the next trip. That refers to the separate Pay and Fly balance product, not the plans in our tables.
  • Their affiliate catalogue labels its prices EUR while the site charges the same numbers in USD. We store them as USD, which is what the USD page shows, and check them nightly.
  • The Unlim Day Pass sells days of unlimited data usable across a year rather than a consecutive validity, so it is not in our tables; compare it on their site if that shape suits your trips.

We list Yesim because its prices are real and its plans rank on the same maths as everyone else's. We publish what we could not verify so you can decide with the facts in front of you.

Technical details

How Yesim works, in detail

Activation
Guest checkout on the website or purchase in the app, with the eSIM installed from the app in one tap or by QR code. Each plan page says the plan must be activated within 90 days of purchase, and validity starts when the eSIM connects to a compatible network.
Plan type
Data only on every plan page checked (Plan type: Data only). Yesim sells virtual phone numbers as a separate product, which do not come with these plans.
Validity clock
On first connection to a compatible network, per every plan page. Unlimited plans are subject to a fair use policy with no published allowance, after which speed may be reduced.
Hotspot sharing
Hotspot: Available on every plan page checked. The terms add that Yesim does not guarantee extra features such as hotspot on every network.
5G access
Country pages list the operators with their technologies, for example KDDI with 3G, LTE and 5G for Japan. The plan pages say speed is 3G, 4G, LTE or 5G depending on the provider and location. Not stated per plan.
Top ups
Balance top up: Not available on every plan page checked. The separate Pay and Fly balance can be topped up and kept for a later trip.
ID checks (KYC)
Not required at purchase on the pages checked. The terms (section 5.2) let Yesim demand identity documents at any time or when a regulator requires it.
Apps
iOS app Yesim: eSIM and Mobile Internet by Genesis Group AG, first released 11 June 2019, version 5.40.2 on 6 August 2026, 4.6 from 2,200 ratings on the US listing, iOS 16.6 or later. Android app Yesim: eSIM and Mobile Data, 4.5 from 26.3K reviews, 1M+ downloads, updated 11 August 2026.
Payments
Cards and app store billing; prices shown in the visitor's currency with USD, EUR, GBP, CHF and many others selectable on the site. Brazilian buyers pay a non refundable 3.5% IOF tax per the refund policy.
Refunds
Refund policy: request within 30 days of purchase, and only for a plan that has not been activated, used or expired, where activation includes installing the profile, connecting to a network or starting VPN or data use. Data actually used is not refunded. A technical malfunction must be reported within 1 hour of occurring, with screenshots, to support@yesim.app or the in app form.
Support
Chat inside the app and on the site, described as 24/7 with an average response time of 5 minutes; a help centre; support@yesim.app; b2b@yesim.app for partners. A July 2026 Trustpilot review complains of an AI bot answering first and a person replying too late.

Reputation check

What real Yesim customers say

4.3 / 5 Trustpilot, 2,943 reviews. Collected independently of us, checked Oct 2026.

Most praised

  • Setup is fast and activation straightforward
  • Worked across several countries on one eSIM
  • Prices lower than roaming

Most complained about

  • Unlimited plan slowed to unusable after an unpublished cap
  • Support bot first, human reply came after the trip ended
  • Data counted faster than expected

Check before you buy

  • Installing the eSIM profile counts as activation for refund purposes, so do not install until you are sure
  • Activate within 90 days of purchase or the plan is lost
  • Unlimited means full speed up to an unpublished allowance, then a slower connection; heavy users have hit it in a day
  • The Unlim Day Pass on their site is a different product with days spread over a year and is not in our tables
  • Report any fault within 1 hour with screenshots or the refund policy does not apply

Questions

Yesim eSIM FAQ

What people ask before they buy a Yesim eSIM, answered from live data

Is Yesim legit?

Yesim is a real seller with 3497 live plans in our catalogue covering 183 countries, and every one of those prices is checked again at each catalogue refresh. 97% of those plans were checked against Yesim's own shop on 16 October 2026, so the prices here are the ones a buyer sees. Trustpilot shows 4.3 out of 5 from 2,943 reviews, collected independently of us. Our own rating of 4.3 out of 5 is computed from prices and coverage and cannot be bought.

How much does a Yesim eSIM cost?

Yesim plans run from $0.45 to $184.80. Ranked by real price per GB the best rate is 30 GB for 30 Days at $20.00, which is $0.67 per GB. Across the whole catalogue the median is $2.50 per GB against a market median of $2.83, so a typical Yesim plan is cheaper than the market.

Does Yesim have a discount code?

Yes. ESIMWATCHDOG: Discount at Yesim checkout for new customers on their first purchase We tested it at Yesim's own checkout before listing it, and using it never changes where Yesim ranks on this site.

Which countries does Yesim cover?

183 countries in our catalogue. The cheapest Yesim destinations by price per GB right now are Taiwan ($0.67), Thailand ($0.68), Cyprus ($0.70). Every country in the table on this page links to its full comparison, where Yesim is ranked against every other provider we track.

Can I use a Yesim eSIM as a hotspot?

Hotspot: Available on every plan page checked. The terms add that Yesim does not guarantee extra features such as hotspot on every network.

Does Yesim sell unlimited data plans?

2606 of its 3497 plans are sold as unlimited. In practice they are fair use plans: full speed up to a daily allowance, then slower. That is why they carry no price per GB in our tables.

How do I install a Yesim eSIM?

Guest checkout on the website or purchase in the app, with the eSIM installed from the app in one tap or by QR code. Each plan page says the plan must be activated within 90 days of purchase, and validity starts when the eSIM connects to a compatible network. Buy the plan online, scan the QR code on wifi before you fly, and leave the new line switched off until you land. Then turn on data roaming for the Yesim line and give it a minute to attach to a network. If the code will not install, our guide to eSIM QR code errors covers every message a phone can show.
