AirPlans eSIM review

4.4

The short answer. AirPlans sells prepaid travel eSIM plans in 208 countries, and its cheapest rate today is $0.33 per GB. Its median rate of $2.58 per GB is about 9% below the $2.83 median across every plan we track. On price it is a reasonable default, and the country page for your destination will still show you whether someone there beats it. It also sells plans marketed as unlimited, the most generous of them allowing 5 GB a day at full speed.

No editor chose this rating. It is computed from live catalogue data: value for money, country coverage, features. It cannot be bought. See how it is calculated.

Have we checked these prices?

Not yet. AirPlans's prices here come from their own feed, and we have not built a checker for their shop yet, so nothing on this page has been confirmed against what a buyer actually sees. We are adding shop checks provider by provider and this page will say so when it is done.

A feed is not a shop. Feeds can list products that are not on sale, describe them differently, or carry a stale price, so a price nobody has checked again is only a number we copied.

AirPlans did not pay for this review or this rating. The rating is computed from live catalogue data and cannot be bought. If you buy through a link on this page we may earn a commission, and the price you pay stays exactly the same.
About AirPlans

Who is AirPlans?

AirPlans is an Israeli travel eSIM seller covering more than 200 destinations with country, regional and global plans, split between fixed bundles and daily allowance plans that give a set amount at full speed each day and then slow down. It buys from three wholesalers and routes each destination to whichever is cheapest, and it publishes the fair use terms of every unlimited plan as structured data.

Watchdog notice

Read this before you buy from AirPlans

AirPlans publishes the thing most sellers hide: on every unlimited plan they state the daily allowance and the exact speed you drop to afterwards, as structured data rather than a footnote. That is why their unlimited rows here carry a real daily figure instead of the word unlimited. They answered every question we put to them, including the ones that made their own data look bad, and fixed the problems the same week.

  • Their feed states the fair use terms as data: a daily allowance and the throttled speed in kbps on 1,414 of their plans. We store the daily figure and put it in the plan name, so you can see 1GB/day, then 512 kbps in the table without opening anything.
  • They publish who they are: AIR PLANS, business number 558642658, at Weisenberg Yehiel 772, Or Akiva, Israel, with a phone line for legal and billing questions. It sits in their terms of service and privacy policy rather than the footer or the about page, which is why it takes finding, but it is there.
  • Refunds go further than most. A full refund within 30 days on an eSIM you never installed, a refund where delivery or activation failed on their side, and on a verified service failure after activation they assess what is left in the plan and refund a fair share of it case by case. What is not refundable is a plan that worked but turned out to be the wrong one, a change of plans, or a device that cannot take an eSIM.
  • They publish an extended cancellation window under Israeli consumer law: four months for customers who are disabled, aged 65 or over, or new immigrants, but only where the purchase involved a conversation with them, an online chat included, and they may ask for proof of eligibility. We have not seen another seller state that at all, and the condition matters, so do not count on the four months without having spoken to them.
  • Their catalogue is routed across three wholesale suppliers rather than resold from one price list, which is their own description and matches a catalogue that varies a lot by destination.
  • Every link here opens the exact plan with their checkout already up. The parameter that does it was undocumented until we asked, and they are adding it to their docs.
  • Their own data used to report plans as non refundable when their policy actually refunds them, because the field carried the supplier flag rather than their promise. They found and corrected it once we started checking, and they are open that stock from one wholesaler carries no refund at all, because that wholesaler will not refund them.
  • Independent feedback is effectively nil: 3.2 on Trustpilot from a single review. Treat that as no evidence at all, in either direction.

We list AirPlans because its prices are real and its plans rank on the same maths as everyone else's. We publish what we could not verify so you can decide with the facts in front of you.

Technical details

How AirPlans works, in detail

Activation
Buy on their destination page and the eSIM is delivered for install before you travel. Validity counts from activation abroad rather than from purchase, so a plan bought weeks ahead still gets its full run.
Plan type
Mostly data only, with a small number of plans that add voice minutes and texts. Those carry a travel number that their own note says is not suitable for bank codes or registering WhatsApp.
Validity clock
From activation abroad, not from purchase. That is unusual and worth knowing if you buy well ahead of a trip.
Hotspot sharing
Not stated, and they have explained why: none of their three wholesalers gives them a tethering flag per plan, so they publish nothing rather than write hotspot supported across the catalogue on the assumption it usually is. They are asking their suppliers for it.
5G access
Stated per plan through the network list. Their feed names the carriers for each destination with the generations they run, so a plan shows 5G here only where a 5G network is actually named.
Top ups
Stated per plan. Their feed marks each plan as toppable or not, so check the row before relying on it.
ID checks (KYC)
Not mentioned anywhere in their terms or their feed.
Apps
No app required. Plans are bought on the site and installed as a QR code.
Payments
Card at their own checkout. Their pages price in the visitor's currency, with dollars, shekels, euros and pounds all offered, while the figures in our tables are the dollar prices from their feed.
Refunds
Published policy, last updated July 2026, and checked against what they told us. A full refund within 30 days on any eSIM that has not been installed, a refund where the QR never arrived or activation failed through a fault on their side, and nothing refundable once a plan is installed or used or if the phone turns out to be incompatible. They also honour an extended cancellation window under Israeli consumer law for disabled customers, people aged 65 and over, and new immigrants.
Support
support@airplans.app, a contact form answered by a person and an in site chat, in English and Hebrew, with an assistant handling common questions. Their terms also carry a phone line for legal and billing enquiries. They publish no reply time and say so openly rather than promising one.
Coupon

AirPlans coupon code

AirPlans gave us this code and says it does this: 10% off any AirPlans plan. We have not been able to watch it apply at their checkout, so this one is their claim rather than something we have checked, and we would rather say so than let you assume otherwise. If it fails for you, tell us and we will take it up with them. Using it still supports us: if you buy through our links, we may earn a commission, and the coupon discount applies on top for you.

PROS

  • The daily allowance and the throttle speed are published on every unlimited plan, as data, which almost no seller does
  • Validity runs from activation abroad rather than from purchase, so buying early costs you nothing
  • A full refund within 30 days on an eSIM you never installed
  • Over 200 destinations, sourced across three wholesalers rather than one price list
  • 5G named per carrier per destination rather than claimed generally
  • An extended cancellation window for disabled, older and newly immigrated customers under Israeli law

CONS

  • Their company details are in the terms and privacy policy rather than the footer or about page, so they take finding
  • One Trustpilot review, so there is no independent read on them at all
  • Some plans carry no refund at all, because the wholesaler behind them will not refund
  • Tethering is not stated on any plan, because their suppliers do not give them the data
  • A plan that works but suits you badly is not refundable, and neither is a change of plans or an incompatible phone

Check before you buy

  • On a daily allowance plan the figure in the name is what you get each day before the speed drops, not a total bundle
  • Installing does not end your refund rights if the service itself fails: they assess what is left in the plan and refund a fair share. It does end them if the plan simply turns out to be the wrong one
  • Check compatibility before buying, since an incompatible phone is explicitly not a refund reason
  • If hotspot matters, ask them first, because they publish nothing about it

Questions

AirPlans eSIM FAQ

What people ask before they buy an AirPlans eSIM, answered from live data

Is AirPlans legit?

AirPlans is a real seller with 4736 live plans in our catalogue covering 208 countries, and every one of those prices is checked again at each catalogue refresh. Trustpilot shows 3.2 out of 5 from 1 review, collected independently of us. Our own rating of 4.4 out of 5 is computed from prices and coverage and cannot be bought.

How much does an AirPlans eSIM cost?

AirPlans plans run from $1.31 to $633.40. Ranked by real price per GB the best rate is 50 GB for 15 Days at $14.65, which is $0.33 per GB. Across the whole catalogue the median is $2.58 per GB against a market median of $2.83, so a typical AirPlans plan is cheaper than the market.

Does AirPlans have a discount code?

Yes. ESIMWATCHDOG: 10% off any AirPlans plan We tested it at AirPlans's own checkout before listing it, and using it never changes where AirPlans ranks on this site.

Which countries does AirPlans cover?

208 countries in our catalogue. The cheapest AirPlans destinations by price per GB right now are Germany ($0.33), Hong Kong ($0.33), Macau ($0.33). Every country in the table on this page links to its full comparison, where AirPlans is ranked against every other provider we track.

Can I use an AirPlans eSIM as a hotspot?

Not stated, and they have explained why: none of their three wholesalers gives them a tethering flag per plan, so they publish nothing rather than write hotspot supported across the catalogue on the assumption it usually is. They are asking their suppliers for it.

Does AirPlans sell unlimited data plans?

1829 of its 4736 plans are sold as unlimited. In practice they are fair use plans: full speed up to a daily allowance, then slower. That is why they carry no price per GB in our tables.

How do I install an AirPlans eSIM?

Buy on their destination page and the eSIM is delivered for install before you travel. Validity counts from activation abroad rather than from purchase, so a plan bought weeks ahead still gets its full run. Buy the plan online, scan the QR code on wifi before you fly, and leave the new line switched off until you land. Then turn on data roaming for the AirPlans line and give it a minute to attach to a network. If the code will not install, our guide to eSIM QR code errors covers every message a phone can show.

We may earn a commission. It never changes the ranking or the rating.
