Earth Esim review

Read this before you buy from Earth Esim

Earth Esim is a middle of the market seller with a very wide range. Its unlimited plans mostly run at one capped speed for the whole plan, usually 1 Mbps, which suits light use and will frustrate anyone who wants to stream. The company is registered in Australia, Trustpilot has no page for it, and its refund policy is tighter than the headline suggests.

• Most of their unlimited plans run at one capped speed. Their Albania page, for one, promises unlimited data for the length of the plan at up to 1 Mbps, and some ranges offer 5 or 10 Mbps for more money. Their Japan Unlimited range says the opposite, full speed with no daily cap and no throttling, and their Haiti plans slow to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day. Most other sellers here run unlimited at full speed up to a daily allowance, so our tables show each kind the way their store states it.
• On unlimited plans a day can be a calendar day. Their Albania unlimited page says each day runs until 23:59 on the local network's clock and the next starts fresh at midnight. Connect at 9pm on a one day plan like that and you get about three hours.
• The refund policy is 7 days and narrower than it first sounds. A full refund only if the eSIM was never installed. Installed but unused costs you a 15% restocking fee. Their dedicated unlimited ranges for about twenty destinations, such as Japan, Thailand, China, Europe, the USA and the UK, are excluded outright. Read the list on their refund page before buying one.
• The company checks out. The Australian Business Register lists Earth Esim Pty Ltd, ABN 76 676 767 301, as an active Australian private company since 1 May 2024, based in New South Wales. The domain dates from April 2024.
• Trustpilot has no page for earthesim.com, so what we can say about their service rests on their own published terms.
• On price they sit a little above the middle. Their median plan works out slightly above the market median per gigabyte, and they are not the cheapest travel sized plan in any country where we could compare them. In most of those countries they sit in the bottom half of sellers, though they do better in some places: in Japan their best plan ranks 9th of 53.
• Hotspot is allowed, and their data marks most plans as able to top up. Their data marks every plan as allowing hotspot, their Albania page says yes to hotspot sharing, a few plans state a hotspot allowance, and we show top ups plan by plan as their data gives them.
• Some of their data had to be held back or trimmed. For three plans their feed lists the same plan twice at two different prices. On the one we checked, Barbados, their store sells only one, so we show neither. Where a plan's allowance changes from country to country, as with their Lebara plan, we publish the smallest allowance it gives or leave it out, so no country page claims more data than you would get there.

We list Earth Esim because its prices are real and its plans rank on the same maths as everyone else's. We publish what we could not verify so you can decide with the facts in front of you.
