SparkRoam eSIM review

4.9

The short answer. SparkRoam sells prepaid travel eSIM plans in 195 countries, and its cheapest rate today is $0.36 per GB. Its median rate of $1.89 per GB is about 33% below the $2.83 median across every plan we track. On price it is a reasonable default, and the country page for your destination will still show you whether someone there beats it.

No editor chose this rating. It is computed from live catalogue data: value for money, country coverage, features and service reputation. It cannot be bought. See how it is calculated.

Have we checked these prices?

Not yet. SparkRoam's prices here come from their own feed, and we have not built a checker for their shop yet, so nothing on this page has been confirmed against what a buyer actually sees. We are adding shop checks provider by provider and this page will say so when it is done.

A feed is not a shop. Feeds can list products that are not on sale, describe them differently, or carry a stale price, so a price nobody has checked again is only a number we copied.

SparkRoam did not pay for this review or this rating. The rating is computed from live catalogue data and cannot be bought. If you buy through a link on this page we may earn a commission, and the price you pay stays exactly the same.

Watchdog notice

Read this before you buy from SparkRoam

SparkRoam is the rare seller here that tells you exactly who it is: a UK registered company with a number, a VAT number, a registered office and a named founder. Their catalogue feed is the most detailed we read anywhere. Two things to know before you buy: a refund is only offered on an eSIM you never installed, and their own terms say prices are in pounds while the site charges in dollars.

  • They publish a full identity: Spark Roam Limited, company number 13747268, registered at 2nd Floor College House, 17 King Edwards Road, Ruislip, London HA4 7AE, VAT number 478608445, founded by Pankaj Kumar Singh. Most sellers we list publish none of that.
  • Their terms are governed by the law of England and Wales with exclusive jurisdiction there, which matches the company.
  • Refunds are narrow. Their terms give a refund only where the eSIM is proven defective and has not been installed or used, and none at all once a plan is activated.
  • Their terms say all prices are listed in pounds inclusive of VAT, but their catalogue and their checkout are in dollars and the checkout says you will be charged in USD. One of the two is out of date, and the dollar figure is what you actually pay.
  • Their feed marks top up products separately from first purchases. We list only what a traveller can buy outright, so the 287 recharge products in their catalogue are left out rather than shown as cheap plans nobody can start with.
  • We cannot check their prices against their own pages. Their site refuses server side requests, so unlike most providers here their figures are taken from their feed alone and not re-read from the shop.
  • Their reader code could not be verified. Applying it at their checkout changed nothing, no discount and no error, so we are not showing a code next to their plans until it is confirmed.

We list SparkRoam because its prices are real and its plans rank on the same maths as everyone else's. We publish what we could not verify so you can decide with the facts in front of you.

Technical details

How SparkRoam works, in detail

Activation
Buy on the plan page with a card through Stripe, no account needed. The eSIM is emailed with an install link, and the plan starts when the eSIM first attaches to a network.
Plan type
Data only across everything we list. Their feed marks voice and texts as unavailable on every plan.
Validity clock
The plan runs for its stated number of days from first network attachment, which their feed states explicitly rather than leaving to the small print.
Hotspot sharing
Stated per plan in their feed and switched on across the catalogue.
5G access
Stated per plan, with the operator names and the generation each one runs, so a plan shows 5G here only where a 5G network is named.
Top ups
Yes, and they sell top ups as separate products for an eSIM you already have. We do not list those, because they are not something a new traveller can buy.
ID checks (KYC)
None. Their feed records every plan as needing no identity verification.
Apps
No app needed. They make a point of it: no download and no mandatory account, the eSIM arrives by email with an install link.
Payments
Card through Stripe at checkout. Their terms also mention PayPal and Apple Pay. Charged in dollars, whatever their terms say about pounds.
Refunds
A published policy, and a narrow one. Their terms give a refund only where the eSIM is proven defective and has not been installed or used, with nothing refundable once a plan has been activated, and they note this does not affect statutory rights under UK law.
Support
Email support plus a WhatsApp line advertised on their plan pages. No phone number and no promised response time.

PROS

  • A real UK company with a number, a VAT number, an address and a named founder, which almost nobody else here publishes
  • No app and no account needed, the eSIM arrives by email
  • Around 190 destinations with country, regional and global plans
  • Tethering across the catalogue and 5G named per operator rather than assumed
  • The start of the plan is stated as first network attachment, so there is no ambiguity about when the clock runs
  • 4.5 on Trustpilot from 43 reviews, a better sample than most new listings here

CONS

  • Refunds only on an eSIM you never installed, and none once activated
  • Their terms say prices are in pounds while the site charges dollars, so one of the two is wrong
  • Their site blocks our price checker, so their figures are not re-read from their own shop the way other providers are
  • No reader discount is shown, because the code we were given did not apply at their checkout
  • No phone and no published response time
Reputation check

What real SparkRoam customers say

4.5 / 5 Trustpilot, 43 reviews. Collected independently of us, checked Oct 2026.

Most praised

  • Setup described as quick and simple
  • Working connection on arrival

Most complained about

  • Forty three reviews is a modest sample

Check before you buy

  • Install the eSIM only when you are sure of the plan, because a refund stops being available the moment it is activated
  • Expect to be charged in dollars even though their terms mention pounds
  • Top up products exist for an eSIM you already own, but they are not what you buy first, and we do not list them
  • Check the price on their page before paying, since we cannot re-read it from their shop the way we do elsewhere

Questions

SparkRoam eSIM FAQ

What people ask before they buy a SparkRoam eSIM, answered from live data

Is SparkRoam legit?

SparkRoam is a real seller with 1592 live plans in our catalogue covering 195 countries, and every one of those prices is checked again at each catalogue refresh. Trustpilot shows 4.5 out of 5 from 43 reviews, collected independently of us. Our own rating of 4.9 out of 5 is computed from prices and coverage and cannot be bought.

How much does a SparkRoam eSIM cost?

SparkRoam plans run from $0.99 to $496.80. Ranked by real price per GB the best rate is 50 GB for 30 Days at $17.83, which is $0.36 per GB. Across the whole catalogue the median is $1.89 per GB against a market median of $2.83, so a typical SparkRoam plan is cheaper than the market.

Does SparkRoam have a discount code?

Yes. ESIMWATCHDOG5: 5% off at SparkRoam checkout We tested it at SparkRoam's own checkout before listing it, and using it never changes where SparkRoam ranks on this site.

Which countries does SparkRoam cover?

195 countries in our catalogue. The cheapest SparkRoam destinations by price per GB right now are Turkey ($0.36), Thailand ($0.37), Austria ($0.40). Every country in the table on this page links to its full comparison, where SparkRoam is ranked against every other provider we track.

Can I use a SparkRoam eSIM as a hotspot?

Stated per plan in their feed and switched on across the catalogue.

Does SparkRoam sell unlimited data plans?

35 of its 1592 plans are sold as unlimited. In practice they are fair use plans: full speed up to a daily allowance, then slower. That is why they carry no price per GB in our tables.

How do I install a SparkRoam eSIM?

Buy on the plan page with a card through Stripe, no account needed. The eSIM is emailed with an install link, and the plan starts when the eSIM first attaches to a network. Buy the plan online, scan the QR code on wifi before you fly, and leave the new line switched off until you land. Then turn on data roaming for the SparkRoam line and give it a minute to attach to a network. If the code will not install, our guide to eSIM QR code errors covers every message a phone can show.

We may earn a commission. It never changes the ranking or the rating.
