Tourist eSIM review

4.7

The short answer. Tourist eSIM sells prepaid travel eSIM plans in 208 countries, and its cheapest rate today is $0.40 per GB. Its median rate of $1.95 per GB is about 31% below the $2.83 median across every plan we track. On price it is a reasonable default, and the country page for your destination will still show you whether someone there beats it. It also sells plans marketed as unlimited, the most generous of them allowing 10 GB a day at full speed.

Have we checked these prices?

Not yet. Tourist eSIM's prices here come from their own feed, and we have not built a checker for their shop yet, so nothing on this page has been confirmed against what a buyer actually sees. We are adding shop checks provider by provider and this page will say so when it is done.

A feed is not a shop. Feeds can list products that are not on sale, describe them differently, or carry a stale price, so a price nobody has checked again is only a number we copied.

Tourist eSIM did not pay for this review or this rating. The rating is computed from live catalogue data and cannot be bought. If you buy through a link on this page we may earn a commission, and the price you pay stays exactly the same.
About Tourist eSIM

Who is Tourist eSIM?

Tourist eSIM sells prepaid travel data for more than 200 countries through a multilingual website, an Android app and a partner API, alongside virtual numbers and a separate range that bundles data with a real number, calls and texts. Its catalogue splits between fixed data bundles and plans sold by the day with a daily full speed allowance, and it is one of the few sellers whose partner data states that daily allowance and the speed after it rather than hiding behind the word unlimited.

What it does not do is say who it is. No company name, registration number or VAT number appears anywhere on the site, the only address is a shared registered office in London, and the About page's account of when the company began is contradicted twice over, once by the page's own structured data and once by the age of the domain. The ratings embedded in its pages claim thousands of reviews against the thirteen it actually has on Trustpilot.

FoundedStated three ways: the About page says 2020 in prose, its own structured data says 2023, and the domain was registered 18 December 2025 CompanyNone published on the site. Watchdog notice

Read this before you buy from Tourist eSIM

Tourist eSIM has the cleanest partner data of any brand we onboarded this month and the thinnest public identity. Its prices are exactly what its own checkout charges, and its feed is honest about what its plans really are, including admitting that its "Unlimited Data" plans are a few gigabytes a day and then a throttle. Against that, the company never names itself anywhere on its own website, its About page gives two different founding years that both predate its own domain, and the ratings written into its pages claim thousands of reviews it does not have.

  • Nobody is named anywhere on the site. There is no company name, no registration number and no VAT number on the footer, the About page, the Contact page or any of the policy documents. The only address published is 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, a mass use registered office shared by very large numbers of companies. The one place the operator names itself is its Google Play listing, which gives the developer as Trip Begin Limited at an address in Rajshahi, Bangladesh. A UK company called Trip Begin Ltd, number 17142915, is registered at that exact London address, incorporated on 8 April 2026. The website itself never tells you any of that, and that incorporation date is five months before we checked.
  • The ratings printed into their own pages are not real. The structured data on their homepage claims an average of 4.9 from 4,650 reviews, and their country pages claim 4.8 from 2,847, with the same 2,847 figure on the Germany page and the Japan page. Their only independent profile is Trustpilot, which sits at 3.3 from 13 reviews. The customer testimonials on their country pages are the same named people with the same photographs on every country.
  • Their site gives three different answers for when the company started. The About page says in words that Tourist eSIM was born in 2020, the structured data on that same page says the founding date was 2023, and the domain itself was registered on 18 December 2025. Their terms and refund policy are both dated the same week as the domain.
  • Unlimited does not mean unlimited, and to their credit their own data says so. Plans sold as "Unlimited Data" carry a daily allowance, usually 3GB or 2GB, after which the speed drops until the next day. Their plan cards publish the daily cap but never the speed you drop to; the data they give partners does, naming 1 Mbps or 2 Mbps depending on the plan. We list these by their real daily allowance and never as unlimited.
  • Hotspot is the one thing they will not put in writing. The data they give partners flags every single plan as allowing tethering. Their own general FAQ says the opposite, that some plans may be restricted, and their city pages add that budget plans may restrict it. Their terms do not mention hotspot at all. Four separate pages tell you to check your specific plan's terms, and no plan card or plan page on their site publishes a hotspot field, so there is nothing to check. We therefore do not claim hotspot on any of their plans.
  • Refunds are narrower than their FAQ suggests. The refund policy allows three grounds: the QR code not arriving within 24 hours of payment, an eSIM that cannot be installed or used because of a fault at their end, and technical problems they cannot solve. Change of mind and accidental purchase are excluded outright, because the eSIM counts as used the moment the QR code is emailed. Their own FAQ meanwhile says unused and unactivated plans are typically eligible, which the policy never grants. Six situations are refused explicitly, including a carrier locked phone, a device that does not take eSIMs, poor reception and a mistyped email at checkout.
  • No law governs your purchase. The governing law clause says the terms follow the laws of the jurisdiction where Tourist eSIM is registered, and no jurisdiction of registration is published anywhere, so the clause points at nothing. There is no arbitration clause, no court named and no time limit for bringing a claim.
  • The independent feedback is thin and split down the middle. Thirteen Trustpilot reviews, 62 percent at five stars and 38 percent at one star, with nothing in between. The one star reviews say the same thing each time, that the eSIM never connected at all. There is no Reddit discussion, no Google Play rating, and the iOS app the site advertises does not exist: the App Store link on their own site is dead.
  • What does hold up is the pricing. We checked their feed against their own checkout by switching the site to dollars and reading the prices off the rendered page. On Japan, 31 of 32 plans matched to the cent. Their 34 currencies are all mechanical conversions of one base price, which is why yen prices come out with two decimal places.

We list Tourist eSIM because its prices are real and its plans rank on the same maths as everyone else's. We publish what we could not verify so you can decide with the facts in front of you.

Technical details

How Tourist eSIM works, in detail

Activation
Buy on the website or in the Android app and install from a QR code sent by email. The QR code works once, and an eSIM you delete cannot be reinstalled or refunded.
Plan type
The travel plans are data only, stated on every plan card. A separate Data, Voice and SMS range does include a real number, minutes and two way texts; their homepage advertises 31 or more of those while the page listing them shows 66.
Validity clock
On first connection to a network at your destination, which is what the badge on every plan card says. Their terms give a hedged version that also allows installation to start the clock, and their install guide gives a third version, so the plan card is the only unambiguous statement of the three.
Hotspot sharing
Not claimed. The data they give partners flags every plan as allowing tethering, but their own FAQ says some plans may be restricted, their city pages say budget plans may restrict it, and their terms do not mention hotspot at all. Four of their pages tell you to check your specific plan, and no plan card or plan page on their site publishes a hotspot field, so there is nothing to check. We show no hotspot support for any of their plans rather than repeat a claim their own site contradicts.
5G access
Stated per plan in the partner data, where most plans list 3G, 4G and 5G. We mark 5G only where that plan states it.
Top ups
On some plans only, and they mark it honestly: a Reloadable badge appears on the plans that support it, 22 of the 43 Japan plans when we checked. A top up credits the existing profile with no new QR code.
ID checks (KYC)
Not routine. Identity documents may be requested only where local telecoms law requires it, and the terms never name which countries that covers. Documents are deleted after verification. The compulsory identity checks on their site apply to partners and API resellers, not to travellers buying a plan.
Apps
Android only. The Google Play app was released in March 2026, carries no star rating and shows 100 or more installs. The iOS badge on their own site points at an App Store listing that does not exist.
Payments
Their privacy policy is the only place they name processors, listing Stripe, bKash, SSLCommerce and PayPal, and hedging that list with the word like. The ten payment marks in the footer are static images rather than a checkout list, and the About page gives a shorter and different list again. Prices are shown in 34 currencies, all of them fixed rate conversions of a single base price rather than separately set prices, which is why yen is quoted to two decimal places. They say they do not store full card numbers.
Refunds
Three grounds only, set out in a policy dated 18 December 2025: the QR code not arriving within 24 hours of payment, an eSIM that cannot be installed or used because of a fault at their end or their network partner's, and technical problems they cannot resolve. Change of mind and accidental purchase are excluded, because the eSIM is deemed used once the QR code is generated and emailed. Six situations are refused outright: a carrier locked device, a device that does not support eSIM, an eSIM you deleted after installing, poor reception locally, expired validity and a wrong email address at checkout. A technical fault claim must be raised while you are still at the destination, with screenshots of your device settings, and reporting after the trip disqualifies it. No deadline in days is published for asking. Approved refunds take 5 to 10 business days to the original payment method, and they warn your bank may take its own fee out of that. Virtual numbers are non refundable once provisioned. Their FAQ contradicts all of this by saying unused and unactivated plans are typically eligible.
Support
Email to support@touristesim.net, a contact form, and a Chatway chat widget. The Live Chat button in the footer and on the contact page calls a handler for a chat system that is not installed on the page, so it does nothing. Their terms link to a support page at /support that returns a 404. They claim replies within 2 hours and support around the clock, with no schedule or timezone given, and the About page claims WhatsApp support without publishing a number. No customer phone line exists anywhere; the only number published for the business is the Bangladesh developer contact on their Google Play listing. Partners have a separate address, partners@touristesim.net.
Coupons

Is there a Tourist eSIM discount code?

Not one we can vouch for right now. We only publish a Tourist eSIM promo code after testing it at Tourist eSIM's own checkout, and most codes on coupon sites are expired or never worked. If a working discount code appears it will be listed here, and it will never change where Tourist eSIM ranks in our tables.

PROS

  • Their partner data is unusually honest, stating the daily allowance and the throttle speed behind plans their own shop calls unlimited
  • Prices match their own checkout: 31 of 32 Japan plans agreed to the cent when we checked
  • One of the widest catalogues we track, 3,158 plans across 208 countries
  • Top up support is marked per plan rather than claimed across the board
  • A separate range with a real number, calls and texts, which most travel eSIM sellers do not offer
  • No routine identity check for travellers

CONS

  • No company name, registration number or VAT number anywhere on the site, and only a shared registered office address in London
  • The ratings built into their own pages claim thousands of reviews against the 13 they actually have
  • Their About page gives two founding years, both earlier than the domain itself
  • Hotspot is flagged as allowed in their partner data and contradicted by their own FAQ and city pages, with no per plan detail published anywhere
  • The governing law clause names no jurisdiction, and no court, arbitration or time limit is specified
  • Refunds are narrower than their FAQ promises, and a technical fault must be reported while you are still abroad
  • The Live Chat button does not work and the support page their terms link to returns a 404
  • No iOS app despite the site advertising one, and no rating on the Android app

What real Tourist eSIM customers say

3.3 / 5 Trustpilot, 13 reviews. Collected independently of us, checked Oct 2026. Too few reviews to influence our rating.

Most praised

  • Installation and activation are quick and clearly explained
  • Prices compare well against the alternatives
  • One reviewer reported good speeds using it in Italy

Most complained about

  • Several reviewers report an eSIM that never connected at all
  • Refund requests left unresolved after a plan failed
  • Too few reviews overall to judge reliability from

Check before you buy

  • Read the plan name as a daily allowance, not as unlimited: their Unlimited Data plans give you a few gigabytes a day and then slow down until the next day
  • Do not count on using this eSIM as a hotspot, because their own pages disagree on whether it is allowed and no plan says either way
  • If something goes wrong, raise it with support while you are still at the destination and take screenshots, because a report after the trip is refused
  • Check the Reloadable badge before a long trip, because only some plans can be topped up
  • Type your email carefully at checkout, since a wrong address at checkout is on their list of situations they will not refund
  • The validity clock starts when the eSIM first connects at your destination, not when you buy it

Questions

Tourist eSIM FAQ

What people ask before they buy a Tourist eSIM, answered from live data

Is Tourist eSIM legit?

Tourist eSIM is a real seller with 3178 live plans in our catalogue covering 208 countries, and every one of those prices is checked again at each catalogue refresh. Trustpilot shows 3.3 out of 5 from 13 reviews, collected independently of us. Our own rating of 4.7 out of 5 is computed from prices and coverage and cannot be bought.

How much does a Tourist eSIM cost?

Tourist eSIM plans run from $1.69 to $1,363.14. Ranked by real price per GB the best rate is 20 GB for 30 Days at $8.05, which is $0.40 per GB. Across the whole catalogue the median is $1.95 per GB against a market median of $2.83, so a typical Tourist eSIM plan is cheaper than the market.

Does Tourist eSIM have a discount code?

Not one we can vouch for. We only publish Tourist eSIM promo codes that we have tested at its checkout, and there is no working code right now. Most codes on coupon sites are expired, so check the total on the payment page before you count on a discount.

Which countries does Tourist eSIM cover?

208 countries in our catalogue. The cheapest Tourist eSIM destinations by price per GB right now are Poland ($0.40), Malaysia ($0.41), Turkey ($0.41). Every country in the table on this page links to its full comparison, where Tourist eSIM is ranked against every other provider we track.

Can I use a Tourist eSIM as a hotspot?

Not claimed. The data they give partners flags every plan as allowing tethering, but their own FAQ says some plans may be restricted, their city pages say budget plans may restrict it, and their terms do not mention hotspot at all. Four of their pages tell you to check your specific plan, and no plan card or plan page on their site publishes a hotspot field, so there is nothing to check. We show no hotspot support for any of their plans rather than repeat a claim their own site contradicts.

Does Tourist eSIM sell unlimited data plans?

1057 of its 3178 plans are sold as unlimited. In practice they are fair use plans: full speed up to a daily allowance, then slower. That is why they carry no price per GB in our tables.

How do I install a Tourist eSIM?

Buy on the website or in the Android app and install from a QR code sent by email. The QR code works once, and an eSIM you delete cannot be reinstalled or refunded. Buy the plan online, scan the QR code on wifi before you fly, and leave the new line switched off until you land. Then turn on data roaming for the Tourist eSIM line and give it a minute to attach to a network. If the code will not install, our guide to eSIM QR code errors covers every message a phone can show.

We may earn a commission. It never changes the ranking or the rating.
